• When outline is completed, construct the small
stitch on the same line so that the back side of the
embroidery get cleared. (Fig 7)

• Fill stitches are then carefully worked, layer by
layer, maintaining the reverse match. (Fig 5)

• In this type of embroidery some precautions are
to be taken:
- We should cut the thread while completing the
flower or any other motif
• A full shawl can take 6–12 months, depending on
the density and size of the embroidery.
6 Finishing steps
• After the embroidery is complete:
- The shawl is soaked in lukewarm water to
remove any remaining markings.
- It is gently washed with natural soap, then air-
dried.
- The final piece is hand-pressed using a wooden
roller (locally called Pinj).
